We left around midnight on Thursday. There were 5 of us crammed into a Nissan titan, so we took turns laying down in the back. My girlfriend and I went first since we were tired and it would be more comfortable than sitting in the cab with everyone else. Around the time we reached Flagstaff, Az the temperature dropped to around 50 degrees and we were freezing our butts off. It felt great for about an hour, but when we stopped for gas, we got back inside the cab for the rest of the trip.

While trying to sleep in the back of a truck cab, we got a flat tire in Albuquerque, NM. We called for roadside assistance since we could not locate the tire iron to use with the jack. I also called my friend Chris because he lived out there and I thought it would be nice to see him and maybe he had a tire iron also. My friend Chris finally returned my phone call over an hour later. He told me he could get a tire iron and meet up with us. 20 minutes after that a couple people pulled over to help us out. I called Chris back and told him nevermind. We got the spare on the truck and found out it wasn’t the same size as the 3 other tires. One of the guys that pulled over to help, gave us directions to a tire place up the road. They were really expensive ($180), so we drove a few blocks and found a little tire shop ran by a Mexican who sold us the tire for $50. Also on the way to the first tire shop we saw a accident where a person on a motorcycle got hit by a truck and died. He was laying in the middle of the road covered with a sheet.

The rest of the way to Texas was boring. Nothing to look at but hills and cows. Although it was nice seeing green grass all over the ground. We don’t have that in Az.

My time in Texas wasn’t too exciting. Met some of my girlfriends family, watched some movies, went to a swap meet, and ate some cake. On the way back from the swap meet, my girlfriend and some of her family went to a house that they heard was haunted. They took some pictures in which they are convinced they captured “ghosts”. This gave my girlfriend nightmares and kept us up all night. I looked at the pictures the next day and didn’t see any ghosts. But people see what they want to see. I will post a link to the pictures when they are online.

We left Texas around 11pm on Sunday. After a few hours of driving I was doing my best to try and sleep in the truck when we stopped suddenly and started driving in reverse. What I missed was a SUV that flipped over in the left hand lane. We went back to help out. The passenger seemed ok, but the drivers head and arm were all bloody. We thought it would be best to get him out of the SUV and move him to the side of the road in case someone comes speeding through and doesnt see the SUV in the lane. A couple truckers pulled over shortly after and put their hazard lights on and also helped directed traffic. We pulled out some pillows and blankets from the back of the truck for the injured driver to lay on. Got a towel for his head and kept pressure on it. Also did our best to keep him awake till help arrived. A policeman showed up about 40 minutes later, then the ambulance 20 minutes after that. The guy in the ambulance thought it would be ok for the driver with the head injury to stand up. None of us thought this was a good idea. Also he took our pillows and blankets since he didn’t have his own in the ambulance…..wtf?

Got back into the Az heat around 10am. Didn’t miss it at all.
