This error happens if you try to stream movies on your PC from Netflix.com. This error only occurs after you have updated to Microsoft SilverLight 4. It might also have something to do with running the 64bit version of Windows 7.
Easy fix….
goto C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\PlayReady
rename file “mspr.hds” to anything you want. I just add a “1″ at the end like so…. mspr1.hds
Start Netflix again and you should be ok.

Yep that did the trick tnx!!!
I really appreciate your fix
, it worked for me I am using windows 7 64 bit
… thanks, i was getting the run around from netflix support.
sweet! works!! Thanks
Worked like a charm – on Windows XP/XP64 it’s the directory:
%allusersprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\PlayReady
On my PC that happens to be: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\PlayReady
easy three step fix is start->run and type cmd, then enter the following in the cmd.exe window: (this is one line and the quotes MUST be used)
move “%allusersprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\PLayReady” “%allusersprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\PLayReady-old”
I just renamed the entire directory – why bother caring about a specific file? The silverlight player then re-installed the entire package and I was back in business.
Thanks it fixed the problem. Didn’t have to waste time dealing with Netflix on the phone.
This didn’t help me at all.
